The cryptocurrency exchange BTCe announced today that they have added Ethereum trading to their exchange. The currency ETH will now be able to be traded against BTC.
BTCe also is announcing DASH trading as well, with the addition of the DSH/BTC trading pair. Dash, formerly known as DarkCoin, currently enjoys the 5th spot in trading volume on CoinMarketCap. Dash recently celebrated its second anniversary in January, at which time a vote among its stakeholders allowed increasing the Dash blocksize from 1 MB to 2 MB.
BTCe is one of the oldest Bitcoin exchanges and has been in operation since 2011. It has consistently been in the top 10 of exchanges measured by trading volume and is currently ranked in 5thplace on CoinMarketCap by volume.
The addition to BTCe brings Ethereum trading to more than a dozen exchanges, with four of them now considered to be major exchanges; Bitfinex, Poloniex, Kraken, and now BTC-e.
The price of Ethereum is also up slightly today, and while it is uncertain how much this announcement is helping this rise (as future exchange announcements will have a diminishing effect of price movement) it is indeed welcome news. There is some speculation that this addition might help bring both Ethereum and Dash to the attention of more traders in Russia and China, as BTCe’s more anonymous platform is perceived as more attractive to these markets and which they already have a large percentage of traders residing in these regions.
