Kraken acquires Cryptowatch

Great news if you are a fan of the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken but hate its trading interface. News just broke that Kraken has announced the acquisition of Cryptowatch, a website that provides real-time charting and trading services for cryptocurrency traders.

In addition to acquiring the Cryptowatch site, Kraken will retain its founder Artur Sapek as a developer. As part of the news, Kraken has also debuted a new trading interface.

Kraken CEO Jesse Powell said of the news:

“As the industry’s leading charting tool for traders, we plan to devote more resources and talent to further enhance its offering. And we’ve purposed the technology to provide a great new charting and trading platform to Kraken clients as the first step in improving our own interface.”

Cryptowatch has seen a 700% growth rate in its active user base during the past two years, and the Kraken merger was the “natural next step” in maintaining the site’s status in the digital asset trading community, Sapek remarked.

Founded in 2011, Kraken, which is a young startup itself, has previously acquired the digital currency exchanges Coinsetter, Cavirtex and Clevercoin.
